The book I have chosen is Go Ask Alice, which is written by an author unknown. The author is speculated to be one of the editors Beatrice Sparks. If the author is Sparks she was born on November 15, 1917 in Goldberg, Idaho. She died at the age of ninety-five on May 25, 2012 in Provo, Utah. She was an American therapist and Mormon counselor and is known for editing books that are troubled teenager diaries. She received the 2001 Iowa Teen Award for the book Annie’s Baby. The main character is Alice a troubled teenager who gets into drugs and runs away being sexually assaulted. The setting takes place in the late 60’s in San Francisco and Oregon. Alice and her parents move and Alice is happy she is ready for a new beginning. She soon goes to a party and has LSD, hallucinating drug, into her drink. This begins her journey into drugs because of the trip she went on, she finds it fun and fantastic, but promises to never do drugs again. Alice breaks this promise experimenting with more drugs and losing her virginity while she was on an acid trip. Soon at her new school she makes a friend, Chris, who does drugs with her and makes her popular. Alice then experiments with marijuana she does not only smoke it she also sells it for money.
