Imagine being paralyzed from the waist down or having no way to speak to your mom because the words can not find a way out Imagine not being able to react when your dad gives you a kiss on the forehead at night. Imagine not having the ability to fight back or walk away when you get pushed out of your wheelchair at school. This is a problem that many children have in today’s society.
Children with disabilities are always being tormented by their peers. These bullies who torment the disabled children are not being informed that maybe at home the child´s family did not eat because they had to pay for another doctor´s visit. Family´s that have a disabled member are always struggling with these problems. Families struggle with social issues, financial issues, and much more. These books can also help parents or adults understand as well. A book called “Having A Brother Like David” tells a true story of a girl named Marty. Marty 's brother, David, has autism. Marty explains that David looks a lot like other children but has special needs. Marty has a difficult time explaining her brother’s conditions to her friends. The family in this book has a difficult time dealing with David’s Autism(Dolby). David struggles at school, he does not understand most children in his class. Marty has found ways to help David after he has a bad day at school or a confrontation with the neighborhood kid (Dolby). Many people have the same family issues that David’s family
