The significance of my book “flush” to me is, when
Noah's dad is sure that the owner of the Coral Queen casino boat is flushing raw sewage into the harbor making the public beach like a swimming toilet. All Noah’s dad wants to do is “flush” it away. This is where the significance of the title comes from.

"Flush" by Carl Hiaasen is written in the first person narrative. Noah Underwood is the juvenile protagonist of the story and the story is written from his perspective. By writing from Noah's point of view, the reader knows some very adult issues that are seen through the story.
Noah is forced to be the peace-keeping between his father and mother. He loves his parents very much and he hope and pray stay together. The author chose a perspective that was both interesting and informative to me. This book could be read by teen’s readers as well as their parents who could have some insight on what it's like for a child when he is stressed with adult problems from his Parents. …show more content…

The protagonist, Noah Underwood, and his family live in what appears to be in a modest, middle class neighborhood. He and his friends and sister spend a lot of time fishing at Snake Creek and love snorkeling along the Atlantic shore and swimming in the local marinas. One of the family's favorite places to picnic is on the Beach but later, this local beach becomes dangerously polluted from sewage washed ashore from the illegal disposal of sewage into the marina by the Coral Queen casino gambling boat. The county jail is also a setting in this story. In fact, the story begins with Noah visiting his father, Paine, in the jail. Paine had been arrested for sinking the gambling boat, the Coral Queen, for its illegal sewage dumping practices. Even though sinking the boat was illegal I believe it was the right thing to do.
