Tayla Beauchesne Mr. Koroshec English 110 1 May 2018 SSR Logs “Gone Girl” 1: Summary Pages 13-98 In the book “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn, The book starts off with Nick Dunne explaining in detail the shape of his wife's head that he remembers. Nicks was fired from his job as NY magazine writer. His wife was also fired from her job which was one factor in leading them to move to Carthage. Then the book goes to explain how Nick and Amy met. Nick then ends up at his home which is creepy due to the fact that that most of the apartment are empty. He walks in and Amy is nowhere to be fund and his home is trashed. She disappeared on their anniversary. The detectives were then called. Through the whole investigation Nick has been acting not normal and more on edge. After the are done looking at the house he is then able to open the anniversary gift that was found. “People want to believe they know other people. Parents want to believe they know their kids. Wives want to believe they know their husband.” (31) This quote is said by Detective Boney who say this when wanting to believe that Nick did not kill his wife Amy, even through his bad decision in the past. 2.
