This novel is filled with lots of adventure and suspense, it is a story that keeps you at the edge of your seat, making it hard to put down. Hunger Games is featured on the web and is one of the best books Suzanne Collins has ever written. The story takes place in the post-apocalyptic country of Panem (which used to be North America), which had been divided into 13 districts. But since that the Capitol is very strict they shortened it down to 12 districts, the 12th District is where Katniss is in. Katniss and Peeta must win the game to survive, but to do that others must die, it is either they die or the others. Even from the beginning before they were chosen for the Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta displayed humanity even though others did not. For example, Peeta offered a loaf of bread to Katniss despite his mother and their society saying otherwise. Therefore it was known that if you have food, you don’t give it away you keep it for your family and yourself. The loaf of bread saves Katniss and her family’s lives from starving to death. Katniss shows humanity when she volunteers to save her sister. Katniss is a true survivor because she pulls her family through the tough time after her father’s death otherwise they would have not survived. I feel that Katniss has learned different ways to stay strong throughout her journey and she has the will to survive and keep her family alive while displaying signs of humanity, where she tries to protect Rue despite them being opponents. This relates to the outside world because there are some people that lose hope and give up because of the harshness of surroundings. People are faced with their own demons and …show more content…

It is shown that Katniss loves her sister and never leaves her behind, protecting her from any trouble. An example from the book is the when her sister got picked, Katniss was so worried and scared for her that she voluntarily chose herself to be part of the hunger games instead of her sister that she loves very much. There was no hesitation in her actions, her sister’s safety was her first priority. This absence of hesitation truly shows that Katniss loves her sister. I feel that the love between the two sisters in this book shows us how powerful love is that even when faced with a deathly situation, protecting your loved ones are always worth it. This really speaks to me because my sister who is older than me protects me from trouble and will even give up her life for my sake. This is very much like the book because Katniss will give up her life for her sister’s sake. This shows that love and family is very powerful and sometimes in order to protect the ones that they love, they must sacrifice
