I am reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, I am on page 208. This book is so far about a girl named Katniss who lives in district 12 with her sister Prim and her mother. Her dad died from a mine shaft that exploded. Gale is Katniss’ only friend in district 12. Today is the reaping, It a drawing for The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games are a punishment for the uprising, one boy and one girl are called tributes. 24 tributes, 2 from each district will be imprisoned in a vast outdoor arena that could hold anything like a burning desert. Katniss has 20 slips with her name and Gale has 42. Effie Trinket grabbed one slip from the huge glass ball for the girls Prim Everdeen was called. Katniss is wearing a beautiful black unitard and a streaming orange, yellow, and red cape that will be on fire during the chariot ride. After the chariot ride Katniss kisses Peeta on the cheek. Its training day and on the last day the Gamemakers were watching her. Katniss was a little off at first but then she hit the dummy in the heart multiple time but the Gamemakers didn't see. She gets mad and decides to shoot a arrow threw the glass and into the apple of the roasted pig. Katniss thanks them and then storms out. The Hunger Games have begun Katniss grabs a loaf of bread and a orange backpack but almost gets her head chop off while grabbing it. She running to the forested area and makes her way to the valley. As she get to the valley she rest and looks inside her backpack inside there is a sleeping bag, crackers, beef strips, iodine, matches, wire, sunglasses, and an empty water bottle.
