The story takes place in the fictional countries of Florin and Guilder. The time period is not defined in the story, but it probably took place during the Renaissance time period. The major characters in the Princess Bride are Westley, Buttercup, Inigo, Fezzik, Vizzini, Humperdinck, and Count Rugen. Buttercup is the princess bride and she is the most important character in the story. Westley is a farm boy that became a pirate when his ship was raided by the Dread Pirate Roberts. He saves Buttercup from kidnappers and murderers. Inigo, Fezzik, and Vizzini were hired to kidnap and murder Buttercup. Humperdinck and Count Rugen are the antagonist in the novel. …show more content…

Buttercup’ parents raise Buttercup. Miracle Max resurrects Westley from the dead(sort of). The King and Queen want Prince Humperdinck to get married. The Dread Pirate Roberts is a famous pirate that captures Westley, and Westley later becomes the Dread Pirate Roberts. The story begins with Buttercup falling in love with Westley. Westley leaves for America and plans on sending for Buttercup when he is ready for her. Unfortunately, the ship that Westley is on gets captured by the Dread Pirate Roberts, and the Dread Pirate Roberts leaves no survivors. In her grief, Buttercup gets engaged to Prince Humperdinck and becomes a princess. While Buttercup goes riding, she is kidnapped by the Sicilian Crowd. They leave for Guilder and plan on murdering her when they get
