Sarajevo which located in central Europe is the Capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 1992 Bosnia was recognized as the symbol of peace. The conflict that exist in Sarajevo is between had to do with urbicide, ethnic cleansing was the goal. From 1994 until the 1984 Olympics, a war that killed many innocent people including children and ruined architecture along with the foundation of the city, left scars that remain until this very day. The three main antagonist to this cold and bitter cemetery like battle were: the Bosnian Serbs vs. the Bosnian Muslims and Bosnian Croats. So many of them decided to send their kids of in the bus without knowing if they themselves were going to make it through the war alive. Although many of them did not know where their kids were going to end up, they had the hopes that they would at least live in better conditions and be able to live a life because the war made them skeptical about their life. In the scene where the bus full of kids is stopped by the Serbian militia, they finger picked the kids out based on their last name. They only took those kids with Serbian like last names off the bus so they wouldn't make it out of Sarajevo but let the other kids go. This was an example of how they only wanted their type there and tried to get rid of all the other ethnicities. The hills of Sarajevo consisted of 260 tanks and aircrafts from the Serbs, they were the ones who controlled who came in and who came out.
