The Boston Strangler, also known as Albert Desalvo was known for murdering 13 women from June 1962 through January 1964. He would sexually assault, rape and in some cases, stabbed the women before strangling them with their own nylon stockings. The woman ranged from ages 19 to 85 and were all single.. At first, Albert was not suspected of the stranglings. It was only after he was charged with rape that he confessed to the strangling of the women. He was never actually prosecuted for the murder of the woman; but for unrelated sexual assault and robbery charges. In 1967, Albert was sentenced to life in prison. However, in that same year, he escaped with two inmates from Bridgewater State Hospital. The Hospital are for those who are criminally insane whose madness is being evaluated.
