Thomas Fitzsimons was born In 1741, in Ireland (exact date and place unknown) and died August 26th, 1811 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Fitzsimons and his family traveled from Ireland to Philadelphia, in the mid 1750’s. In 1763 Thomas went into the trading business, with his new brother in law, George Meade. When Parliament reacted to the 1773 Boston Tea Party with punitive measures, which the Americans called the Coercive Acts, Fitzsimons felt that if British warships could close the port of Boston, no city in America was truly safe. The Boston Tea Party was a violent, courageous, and an eventful act that took place in 1997 because of constant disputes. It started to become a large issue when the British and English colonist constantly disagreed about the unfair taxes that were charged from the British. The colonists didn’t agree to the taxes at all the the government officials formed a plan. The British put such a hefty tax on the tea because they realized the demand was so outrageously high, and they could make a much larger profit off of it. Colonists did not want to pay the huge taxes, so they started buying/smuggling tea from East India, but the British wanted to have the colonists to buy tea from them because of the taxes.

To start off, the Boston tea party was one of the causes of the American Revolution But before we get into the Boston tea party, we have to know a few things about the French and Indian War. Basically Britain and France fight a war for control over North America from 1756 to 1763. Britain wins, however they went into a big amount of debt fighting in it. After the war, the government of the British decided that the American colonist had to help pay that debt.
The Boston Tea Party was an important historical event that occurred due to tensions over authority between the British and American colonists that led up to the Revolutionary War, which enabled the Americans living in the colonies to gain independence from England once and for all. This revolutionary event was an effort by Bostonians to get England to understand the colonists did not want to be taxed by the English parliament anymore without having to get violent. The Boston Tea Party was not an act of terrorism, it was simply a revolutionary rebellion against the Tea Act enforced by England’s parliament. The only “violent” act the people of Boston did was dump the British tea into the Boston harbor. The Bostonians did not even use their weapons used to break the crates of the tea to harm any of the other people residing in Boston.

The Boston tea party was a result of The Stamp Act, The Currency Act, and The Tea Act. Since Great Passed these three laws it angered many of the colonist and resulted in The Boston Tea Party. The Currency Act was the first of many new laws that Great Britain had created that the many of the colonist angry. The Currency Act was a law the prohibited American colonist from using there own American money to buy goods from England.
