The Biography of Bram Stoker
Bram Stoker was born on November 8, 1847 in Dublin, Ireland. His parents were Charlotte Mathilda-Blake Thornley and Abraham Stoker. He was the third kid out of seven. He was a member of the Church of Ireland Parish of Clontarf. For a long time while he was growing up, he was sick. When he was finally healthy at the age of seven, he went to a private school ran by William Woods. Bram was a very good athlete. He was named University Athlete at Trinity College in Dublin. He went to this school from 1864 to 1870. He graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics. Maunsell. He became the theater critic for the Dublin Evening Mail. Stoker also wrote stories. Some of his stories are The Crystal Cup, The Chain of Destiny, and four parts in The Shamrock. Bram Stoker also wrote a non-fiction book called The Duties of Clerks of Petty Sessions in Ireland. He possessed an interest in art and was one of the founders of the Dublin Sketching Club in 1874.
Bram married Florence Balcombe in 1878. He met her while he was at school. Bram and his wife moved to London, where Bram became business manager and acting manager of Irving’s Lyceum Theatre. On December 31, 1879 the Stoker’s only child was born. They named the child Noel Thornley Stoker. After their son was born, Bram was always busy. He travelled a lot. His favorite place to travel was the United States.
Stoker went to the English town of Whitby in 1890. This visit was said to be the inspiration of the novel Dracula. Before he wrote the book Dracula, he met Armin Vambery who was a traveler and writer. Vambery told some dark stories of the Carpathian Mountains, which likely helped with the book Dracula. After Stoker met Armin, he spent several years researching mythological stories of vampires and European folklore. When Bram wrote Dracula, he wrote it as an epistolary novel a skill he developed from being a newspaper writer. Bram dedicated Dracula to one of his close friends named Hall
