In high school, I was Vice President of the Spanish Club, Editor in chief of the Latino Newspaper, a member of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Freedom and Citizenship Program at Columbia University. Also, I volunteered at the New York Autism Charter School and I was offered an internship at a City Hall in the Dominican Republic the summer of 2013. While in high school I was awarded for my dexterity in the Bilingual program and my academic excellence.
I chose Brandeis University because I will be able to explore my interests beyond Brandeis’ classrooms by implementing my knowledge in a community full of bright and diverse individuals. This scholarship opens a door to infinite possibilities of growth, and self-discovery. Without this opportunity, I wouldn't be able to afford the privilege of being a Brandeisian and chase my dreams.
I am resilient, determine, and broadminded because I believe everyone has something to contribute. I work arduously for my achievements and I like to overcome boundaries along my peers. I am visionary, who advocates for equality, human rights, and freedom. At the same time, I am a teenager with big dreams and hopes of a better future. I am proud of joining my school's newspaper because I was able to diversify its content. Months after joining the newspaper, I created a supplementary page to the official newspaper. The Latino Rampage contributes editorials in English and Spanish about current issues that affect the school and students.
