While some believe “Bridesmaids” is inappropriate, it is worth seeing because it promotes friendship and growth with a mix of humor and vulgarity. Our movie features the main character Annie whose life is currently going downhill. She lost her dream business, can’t find love, and found out she will be playing the maid of honor at her best friend's wedding. Annie and Lillian have been best friends since their teenage years, and once Annie finds out she is the maid of honor at Lillian’s wedding, she is determined to make sure everything is perfect. Things do not go as planned however. From the get-go things start to go downhill, but despite all the mess, the movie makes sure to keep the audience laughing. Creativity keeps the humor going. Bridesmaids is categorized as a comedy, but that is not the only element this movie possesses. Even though this movie is all about the crazy situations the bridesmaids and bride get into, this movie also showcases the characters' growth and friendships. Annie is jealous of Helen, she has everything Annie does not and that causes negative emotions to arise from the main character. During the movie, Helen throws Lillian a real, put together bachelorette party with a Paris theme with all the classic bachelorette party foods and gifts, and an added bonus of puppies as party favors. Once Annie arrives, the conflict of the movie explodes. All the feelings and internal conflict Annie has been feeling bursts out in a tirade of hurtful words, she goes on to say how Helen stole her idea for the party, which Annie originally suggested at the restaurant earlier on then continues to angrily rant about her feelings about the whole sequence of events that happened because of Helen and their dislike for each other. We have different emotions showcased throughout the movie that are not humor, but this scene is when everything scrambles out of place and Lillian, feeling overwhelmed and irritated, ends up telling Annie she is not invited to her wedding. Sadness is a strong emotion, it comes out when we do or say something we regret, and at this moment Annie realizes she is the one causing her sadness, not her circumstances. It is true that Bridesmaids is targeted more towards the adult demographic and that vulgar and sexual language is associated with the movie, however just because a movie swears and features adults doing adult activities does not mean it cannot have good feelings and friendship in the movie. While the majority of Bridesmaids has age restricted scenes and dialogue, the scenes and scenarios previously stated prove that Bridesmaids is not just sexual scenes and swear words, it is also about personal growth and changing yourself for a better mindset and life. It is understandable that someone would make this argument, but if someone paid attention to the scenes and change in the atmosphere later on in the movie, they will notice the shift in perspective and attitude Annie has
