After the Revolutionary War started, the British and the Americans dove into a series of violent and bloody battles. While the British troops were well-trained and equipped with advanced weapons, the Continental Army suffered through hardships and their lack of experience lead to constant bloodshed at the battles. Throughout the beginning of the Revolutionary War, the Americans suffered through painful losses against the British until the Battle of Saratoga occurred. This battle was led by Benedict Arnold and General Gates on the American side and General Burgoyne on the British side. In the end, the British army was defeated by Gates and Arnold’s careful plans in which they were trapped and ultimately forced to surrender to the Americans.
A Narrative of a Revolutionary Soldier, Some of the Adventures, Dangers, Sufferings by Joseph Plumb Martin, is a collection of tales starting from when he was just a young boy at the age of seven and quickly goes through his childhood on the farm with his grandparents on his mother's side. Mr. Martin describes his memories from a much later stage in his life at the age of 70 in the year 1830. This is the tales of the crippling weather conditions, terrible living conditions and war stories told by a young enlisted soldier during the war. Mr. Martin was born to a preacher and his wife in 1760 in western Massachusetts. The story begins when he was just a young boy who was sent to live with his grandparents on a farm.
Women roles have drastically changed the Mexican revolution history where women have never before fight in a war. Fighting represents power in terms of the new ideology of women that later came along with the new identities. For example, a new role was being solders. Fighting in the Revolution war gave Las Soldaderas a completely new dramatic role where they gained power. This role consisted of joined in the side of those who were opposed the dictatorship, including the armies of Pancho Villa, Emiliano Zapata, and Venustiano Carranza (Fernández).
There were many goals that the colonists had in waging the Revolutionary War, and an innumerable amount of those goals contributed to America’s political system. A few of their goals were to convert into a country free of a king, become independent, get rid of all loyalists, equal rights between men and women, and slaves wanted to be freed. A great deal of these goals were accomplished, although they were not very easy to carry out. “The nearer any government approaches to a republic the less business there is for a king,” (Document 1). One of the colonists’ main goals was to be free of the king of England.
The Revolutionary war was not revolutionary because it did not protect some of people’s rights, made lives harder, and left Americans in despair. The Declaration of Independence clearly stated that all men are created equal and unalienable rights (Document 2). This, however, is not shown through the social classes. The Revolutionary War was fought to bring freedom, but that undoubtedly does not show. First and foremost, Abigail Adams wrote “Remember the ladies, and be more generous and favourable to them than your ancestors.
The Daughters of Liberty The Daughters of Liberty was a group of women activists who fought for the freedom of the colonists from the British Parliament. They were a major factor in protesting against taxes and boycotting British goods. The Daughters of Liberty did whatever it took to free the Patriots from British rule. They accepted women from all ages and all backgrounds.

Since the eighteenth century, women still try to be equal to men and try to be independent. During the American Revolution, women were dependent on their husband. This meant they had to cook, clean and take care of their children. They were not allowed to do what they wanted.
There was more to the American Revolution than most Americans are aware of. It was political, violent, and strategic in many aspects. However, there is a larger theme in the American Revolution leading up to, during, and after the revolution, of authority struggle. More specifically, home rule. The colonies eventually adopted the idea that they wanted to secede from Britain, but did they ever think of who would rule among the colonies should they achieve independence?
