In Mike Lupica’s QB 1, Jake, a high school quarterback, must work to earn respect. Jake is the son of former NFL player Troy Cullen and has a brother name Wyatt Cullen that lead his team to the State Title win last year. Jake is now going out for football and they are not just giving him the position on a silver platter like the rest of the teams think he will They think that since Jake is a Cullen he will be the first one to play the quarterback position. But he has to work for every snap and every ounce of respect. Jake faces several problems through the book. He faces problems in games and the way Coach McCoy wants him to be compared to how he is.
