Novel Review Essay Do you like wizards and witches, magic and magic related stuff? The Magic Thief is that kind of book. The Magic Thief is about a boy who does magical experiment and it goes very wrong and he is captured by an evil wizard. Three important aspects of this book that make it interesting is the setting, characters and conflict. The moral of this story is listen to your elders. The setting in this book changes multiple time throughout the story and makes the story more interesting. The first setting in this book is a place called Heartsease which is like a big mansion,but it is missing the middle of it. “ (pg 384) The middle of the house was blown up by Nevery’s pyrotechnic experiments (magical explosion causing experiment) twenty years before this story. So two ends of the house are left standing and the middle looks like it has a bite taken out.” Another important setting is Jaggus’ Fortress which is the fortress of a king. The main character in this book is named Connwaer. He used to be homeless and stole from people to survive so he has quick hands and he is very sneaky. “(pg 381) Has shaggy black hair that hangs over his bright blue eyes. A great friend to have, but be careful that you don 't have anything valuable in your pocket’s in reach of his sticky hands.” Nevery Flinglas is the man who took in Connwaer from the streets. He is a tall, impatient, wise old man with gray hair. “ (pg 382) He’s is impatient and often hasty, but beneath that his heart is kind ( he would never admit it).” Jaggus is another important character he is the sorcerer-king who captures Connwaer. Jaggus is not old i 'm guessing he is in his mid to late twenty’s, but yet he has white hair and he has blue eyes. Jaggus is very rich and dress nicely. Jaggus is very wise and sort of stuck up. The characters in this book are not like normal people but they make the story more
