The fantasy is about Buttercup, a milkmaid, and Westley, a farm boy, who fall in love and have to face many obstacles. The story mainly develops the themes of true love and revenge. However, in the book, The Princess Bride by William Goldman, the story develops the theme of revenge and true love in more depth compared to the movie. First of all, the book provides a detailed past of each main character which makes the reader sympathize with them. For example, in the book, the author has dedicated four to five pages to understand Inigo’s and Fezzik’s past.
In a modern approach to Cinderella, Jessica Day George’s Princess of Glass gives fairy tale readers a whole different Cinderella perspective. Poppy, the main protagonist, is a young princess who is shown to be smart, independent, and not your usual royalty. She takes part in a royal exchange program to help unite her kingdom. Over there, she meets Prince Christian, the ‘Prince Charming’ of the story. He is first introduced to the readers as a young man whose parents want him to marry therefore throwing him big parties to meet the girl of his dreams.
In “The Hallowe’en Party” by Miriam Waddington and “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson, symbols are used to enhance the importance of traditions. It is inevitable to say that “The Hallowe’en Party” is a major symbol itself. The party represents togetherness; a time for friends to get together, leaving cultural clichés aside. Mr. Luria is opposed to his children from going to the party, but even he has to give in because after all, “… [they will] only remember the fun they had at MacNeils” (Waddington, para 34). The excitement described by David goes on to reveal that they indeed had a pleasant time; hence, also evolving Mr. Luria’s views.
Literature Overview By reading aloud and exposing students to cultural literacy, it allow students to gain new perspective from different cultures. This lesson requires five cultural diverse books that are central themed with the well-known Cinderella story. By examining these books, I hope that students will appreciate the cultures from Mexico, China, India, Persia, and Hmong. In addition, these books are fictional cultural diverse books that are fairy tales which will engage students to comprehend a story with a central theme, yet see how they can have different points on view influenced by culture, likewise these books mirror on comparisons and differences.

A 10-year-old girl, Lila, narrates this story. But narration through the perspective of a 10-year-old child slightly lowlights the heaviness of the topic and its effects. The characters are witnessing the Indo-Pak war from a distance both geographically and emotionally. Lilia’s parents were worried about the conflict and War but this conflict left Lila struggling with her own life. Mr. Pirzada gave a candy to Lila as a sign of affection.
It revolves around the flight of the princess to escape the awful marriage to his father (Perrault, 1977). Charles Perrault uses the princess’ character to reveal the major themes of overcoming evil, child abuse and incest in the story. Perrault also brings out the moral that it is better to encounter awful challenges in life than to fail in one’s duty. He shows that although the virtue may seem unrealistic, it can always triumph. The author uses various literary devices to reveal the various morals of the story.
The 1940s were a crucial time all over the world with hardships and wars going on for years. Within these wars, two little girls that have been apart of it their whole lives, have shared their experiences through a diary and a book of stories. The Diary of Anne Frank is about a young jewish girl named Anne Frank, who has to go into hiding with her family in order to not get caught and taken away by the Nazis in Amsterdam, and while in hiding, records her experiences and thoughts into her diary. Farewell to Manzanar is a book based on a girl named Jeanne Wakatsuki who is seven years old at the time, and gets taken away with her family to Manzanar encampments, as the U.S. government doesn’t want to risk any Japanese Americans possibly giving up information to the Japanese as they are at war with them. Anne Frank and Jeanne Wakatsuki have many similarities and differences throughout their lifetimes on the run from the war.
The book Dragon keeper written by author Carole Wilkinson is set in Ancient China. The story entails a young girls sojourn throughout China. During the journey, the girl changes from believing that she is unworthy of a name to somebody who has encountered everything from almost dying to damaging endless laws deserving of death. The story begins in Ancient China with a slave girl who in the first place makes herself unworthy of even a name.
In this book report I will talk about the story “The diary of Anne Frank” the story is about a Jew girl called Anne who lived with her family in Germany in the second world war when a new German president called Adolf Hitler came with the idea that all Jew people were dangerous ; so her dad Otto Frank who worked in a bank came with the idea of moving to Amsterdam, Holland to be safer from the German army called the Nazis. Anne was a little girl who lived with her family: Otto Frank her dad, Margot her sister and Edith her mom. For her birthday in June 12 her father gave her a diary were she wrote everything that happened. She wrote this diary while in hiding with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. This diary, which was originally written in Dutch was translated into 60 languages.
It’s about Snow White but this story is from the queen’s point of view. The queen discovers that Snow White is a bloodthirsty vampire and becomes terrified of her. The queen forces Snow White out from the castle to protect the kingdom and its people. Snow White finds her wicked prince in the forest and her greatest desire is to return to the castle and get revenge and murder the Queen.
In a genre as well populated as Holocaust literature, The Book Thief and The Diary of a Young Girl, present themselves both as excellent and dynamic narratives. The Holocaust was a time of great tragedy throughout the world; Jews were being hunted down, and forced to be sent to concentrations camp under the orders of Adolf Hitler. The Diary of a Young Girl, details about the hardships faced by Anne Frank while hiding during the Holocaust, while the Book Thief narrates the story of a young girl growing up during the same. Both offer an unconventional depiction of Holocaust in that they depart from the traditional literary forms.
