The Most Dangerous Game The short story,” The Most Dangerous Game” was written by Richard Connell. General Zaroff is a hunter that hunts humans. Rainsford is a hunter that falls off a yacht and swims toward an island that he heard gun shots from. When he got to the island he found this wonderful palace. In this palace he was confronted by a giant named Ivan. Then he met general Zaroff and found out that he hunted humans. General Zaroff gave Rainsford options to either hunt with him, to play his game and be hunted, or to deal with Ivan. Rainsford decided to play his game and got 3 days to play. Zaroff gave him 3 hours before he started hunting him. Rainsford set up traps but didn’t get Zaroff, by the last day Rainsford was cornered and decided to jump into the ocean. General Zaroff thought that Rainsford cheated and died so he went home and got in bed. Rainsford came out of the corner of the room and told Zaroff that the game was still on and killed him. General Zaroff was determined to trail Rainsford that he was on Rainsford’s trap before he realized it. The author states, “His foot touched the protruding bough that was the trigger . . . the General sensed his danger and leaped back with the agility of an ape” (Connell 28). The general was hunting Rainsford, so Rainsford created a trap making a dead tree fall on the general injuring him. The general was not injured badly and came again to track down
