The Witch Trial of Bridget Bishop
Intro
The Salem Witch Trials was an odd incident. Occurring in the 1600s, a stream of unnecessary deaths began when people grew afraid of the invisible. Demons who whispered in your ear and magic so powerful that it could hurt “afflicted” girls with just a glance, it sounds likes something out of a fantasy story. The people of Salem thought it to be true though, and so with this nonexistent threat looming over them they took their first life, the life of Bridget Bishop, and began their spree.
Life
Bridget Bishop was known for being a loud woman. Born in puritan times where life was colorless, Bishop spent her days in a colorful way, literally and metaphorically. She had a unique sense of style for her time. All women wore dresses of black and white, while Bishop …show more content…

She was even described later on as wearing “A black cap, and a black hat, and a red paragon bodice bordered and looped with color” (umkc.edu). Her flamboyant way of dress also came with a rare lifestyle. Bridget Bishop was a partier. She owned and ran about two taverns, was constantly the head of gossip, often had late guest over to drink and play forbidden games with. Not a modest woman at all, she was married three times, all broken off by death, but never had children. Perhaps it was due to her exotic way of living that she never fully settled down.

Trial While we may find her extravagant behavior charming today, her fellow puritans did not. Her habits brought heavy attention to her, and made her a prime candidate for being accused of witchcraft. Until her last trial, Bishop was accused multiple times, but
