In the following in the essay I will be discussing and evaluating if Britain is still dominant by a two-party system with traditional values. Within the past 25 years in the era between 1945-70 the labour and conservative party were considered as the most dominant party within British politics. However, it is evident today that Britain has a different approach within the two-party system as other parties have emerged due to the decline and decrease in popularity within the two parties.
Within the last decade the conservative and the labour party dominated British politics as the British public has become less engaged in the other party’s policies as they were not convincing enough so thus these two parties were the only real contenders. On the other hand, many would argue that Britain is in fact a one-party system as the conservative party dominated British politics for a long period significantly between the period between 1979 to 1990 under the era of Thatcherism and they made a historic comeback in 2010. The New labour is a party which was formed under the ideas of Neil kinnnock in 1983-92, John smith and 1992-4 and Tony Blair. However, many differ in opinions in when new Labour was created many states it was first introduced under Neil Kinock in 1983 and within that period its values and ethos of traditional Labour were starting to change. But some state New Labour was formed and created when Tony Blair took charge of the Labour party in 1994.
