Even though the victory came easy Bruce was concerned that he took too long to defeat Wong. Lee sought to create the perfect fighting style; and he began to reevaluate his fighting style, from this redevelopment stage came the concepts of his final fighting style Jeet Kune Do, also known as “The way of Intercepting the Fist”. JKD soon became the most effective unarmed combat system ever created by one man (Divine, 2). Lee introduced many of his friends to JKD two of whom became the world’s top participants of JKD today. Lee focused on small movements that made a huge impact. In his book, Tao of Jeet Kune Do, Lee describes what is necessary when fighting an opponent. During early 1965, the T.V. show the Hornet is released with Bruce playing as Kato the shows co-star, being paid a small fortune at the time Lee quickly becomes famous. On February 1st, 1965 Linda Lee gives birth to Brandon Lee. Seven days later Bruce gets a call from Hong Kong and he is informed that his father has died. After spending time with his grieving family, Lee flies his family back to the states in September of 65’. With help from Dan Inosanto, one of Lees close friends, Bruce opens a new school in Los Angles where his family lives. The last episode of The Green Hornet aired on July 14th 1967. After the show ended Bruce offered the idea for a new show, where Bruce would play the role of a Kung Fu master fighting crime in the old west, the show was going to be called “The Warrior” but it was turned down by producer Fred Weintraub. Later the show is renamed to “Kung Fu” and it’s given to a white actor named David Carradine. At this point in his life Bruce had reached a very low point in his acting career, but his life changes for the better when his daughter Shannon Lee is born on April 19th 1969. Disappointed with Hollywood, and in need for work Bruce moves to Hong Kong with his son Brandon Lee. Upon arrival, Lee is greeted and praised by the local community as the star of Green Hornet. Bruce finds works with a new producer named Raymond Chow, Raymond had the idea for a movie called The Big Boss and Lee instantly took the part. The Big Boss was Bruce’s first Hong Kong produced film; Lees film was a huge hit and out-grossed the Sound of Music taking more than 3.5 million dollars in its first weeks of release (Divine, 3).
