He was brought up in a working class environment by his father Doug and mother Adele. During his childhood, Bruce never had a strong relationship with his father. Once Bruce was given the gift of a guitar when he was a teenager, he feel in love with it and it became a passion. During the Vietnam War in 1967, Bruce Springsteen was drafted for military duties. However, Bruce was unfit for military service from his disobedience and he was then able to go and pursue his dream as a musician.

In many of Bruce’s songs, the lyrics portray things such as the American dream and hard work, both things he had experience from in his childhood. Albums like his Born to Run and Born in the U.S.A are great examples of this. His music was a mix of traditional rock with his own flare. Bruce was also a very good live performer because he interacted with his audience on stage. Because of his great talent, Bruce Springsteen went from living in a small town to winning awards and becoming famous.
