Character. It’s what can make or break someone. Character is what millions of jobs and careers look for in a person that is applying to their company. If he or she does not have the specific leadership or even speaking qualities the CEO’s or the bosses won’t even consider hiring you. For example, if a man applies to work at a law firm and he is a pushover and hates public speaking the company won’t hire him because he does not fit their description. Language and leadership qualities were also very important back in Shakespeare's time. In William Shakespeare’s play called The Tragedy of Julius Caesar he introduces a very important character named Brutus. Although Antony, Caesar’s right hand man has a lot of positive attributes to be a great leader, Brutus’s commitment to the overall good of the people and his persuasiveness make him the stronger choice.
Part 1: Brutus the Leader Brutus has always been a strong candidate in the eyes of his Roman people. They see him for his great honor and determination and they know him as someone they can genuinely trust. He’s first proven himself as honorable when he says “Be not deceived.Of I have veiled my look, / I turn the trouble of my countenance/ Merely upon myself. Vexed I am/ Of late with passions of some difference, /. . . that poor Brutus, with himself at war, / forgets the shows of love to other men,” (I.ii.37-47). By this Brutus tells his friend Cassius not to take his recent behavior personally, because he is at war with himself and is so overwhelmed by his inner conflicts. In this scene Brutus has not even considered becoming the Roman leader, but he is already drained from the heavy burden of leadership.
