The Power of One
The novel The Power of One, by Bryce Courtenay, follows the youth life of an English boy in South Africa during the 1930s and 1940s. He goes by the nickname “Peekay,” because it references his earlier nickname "Pisskop," which is translatable in Afrikaans to "Pisshead." Peekay is commonly bullied at his boarding school for being younger than his classmates, but he learns that small can triumph over big. Through his life he loses his fear of bullying and discovers the Power of One.
