Kate Krieger 2/4/16 The Black Death In the early 1330’s, a living horror story hit China with what was called the bubonic plague. The bubonic plague spread very swiftly and killed millions of people. Soon after, the plague then spread from western Asia into Europe. This deadly disease killed millions of people and decreased the population in Europe, which caused the employment rate to go down significantly. This terrifying disease first started off with a severe headache, than they got the chills along with a high fever. With all of that you could only imagine how exhausted they would be. However, humans would most likely get the disease from fleas that live on them. The flea is so contagious it could spread from rat to human to cat and dog in less than a week. The plague affected everything. For example, the workforce was destroyed. Employment went down a lot because everyone was getting this deathly disease. Everything died off. Farms were abandoned and buildings crumpled down. Since there weren’t a lot of jobs available the price of labor increased dramatically. The cost of goods went up. However since the population decreased so much the price of food didn’t change at all. On the bright side, because of the Black Plague, modern medicine was produced. Schools began to close because no one could go. You would probably imagine how scared people would be to go outside at all. The fear of anything that has been touched by someone who has the plague or with the germs in the air that you might get the plague next was inside everyone. Since there was a gap in education for a while, more schools were built to get kids back in the loop of things; so life could move forward. Many who survived this tragic disease lost all their faith in the Lord. They believed he did it on purpose and that he was evil. Doubts entered their mind and it destroyed a lot of peoples religious believes. In my opinion I would rejoice that the Lord got me through this terrible disease and that I’m
