Bud, Not Buddy is a book written by Christopher Paul Curtis. It is about a young 10 year old boy who was in foster care. His name is Bud not Buddy, which is what people call him thinking that’s his name. Bud gets a new foster family, Amoses. Their 12 year old son would constantly bully Bud by calling him Buddy and teasing him.
Bud had many characteristics throughout the story. In Bud Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis , Bud wanted to find his dad. At first he was so eager and scared to find his dad .At the end he was brave and optimistic about having a family. Bud changed throughout his journey in Bud Not Buddy by wanting to find his dad.
And when he was ten he went to go find his dad. When he was traveling Lefty Lew saw him. So he gave him a ride. That's when Bud found out that Herman wasn't his dad he was his grandfather not his dad.
He is trying to find his dad but he is in Grand Rapids and he is in Flint . Bud, Not Buddy would be a different book if there was modern technology because Bud would have been found when he ran away, his mom would have lived, and Bud would have better transportation to Grand rapids.
First of all, the story Bud, Not Buddy would have been different if Hermon was his dad because Hermon would have been nicer to him. In chapter 13, Hermon was rude to Bud when Bud said he knew Hermon was his dad. Although, Hermon had no idea who Bud was and didn’t remember him, he still wasn’t open the idea that he was his grandfather. Also, Hermon would have been more sympathetic to Bud if he was
Also, whenever Herman got mad at Bud the band always tried to hear Bud out. Again, in chapter 13 Herman said, "Now you look here..." And Jimmy said, "Hold on, Herman." Jimmy also said that because he felt like Bud was family. Also, the band fed him, gave him clothes and other things.
In chapter 1, Buds mother died, so Bud had to find food and shelter for himself. Also, Bud would have been able to live in a happy home and not hopping from one foster home to another. For example, Bud was on the lamb looking for Herman E Calloway, and he had to find food and shelter for himself. In the end if Buds mother wouldn't have died, Bud would have been able to find out that Herman E Calloway was his grandfather and not his father.
Throughout the course of history the Great Depression affected the United States in their economy , it lasted 10 years it was the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world. Lennie and George had numerous of risks in the ranches, they didn't have no one who would help them if they were sick or anything else. The author show us the good relationship of Lennie and George how they care of each other. This shows that George is a good friend but maybe this is not his decision to take care of him he feels sorry for him, I also seen in this text that Lennie receives benefits of George friendship because he is being responsible for him he takes care of him, even though he is a trouble maker George is there for Lennie.
The story takes back in the day during the American great depression and people struggles to live in America. The two main characters in the story are George who is the sharp eyed hard worker and Lennie who is handicapped and has bad control of himself. Lennie doesn’t go along with many people except his partner George. Crooks who works at the same place and his black, which makes thing cheesy for him. Crooks likes reading books alone and he likes to keep his distance from others, which is his way of keeping things calm and not messy.
The Great Depression was a time of little hope and small dreams. Much of what happened forced young children out of their world out of their world into the adult world. I’ve also had to step up into the vast realm of the adult world. During the Great Depression many kids had to step up and begin acting like adults.
In 1886, Robert Louis Stevenson authored the novel Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to infer the idea of two alternate personalities within one person. The author focuses the reader’s attention on a specific person’s point of view, Mr. Utterson, to describe the suspense the town and others were feeling about Dr. Jekyll and his lovely companion, Mr. Hyde. Stevenson created the idea of addiction throughout the text, with the characters of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, to show how evil can consume someone’s well-being. Even though Stevenson dials down the evilness by making Dr. Jekyll a scientist, this does not, in fact, take the pressure of evil off the character. During the Stevenson era, addiction to drugs, alcohol, and other substances were exceedingly
It shows even in the dark times of the Great Depression they still find hope in their American dream and one another. In the novella the vision of George and Lennie is to make
Just from reading this much, the parenting style in this book is ridiculous and the kids made the right choices as they got older to be successful. RoseMary
What if the world was still the same as it was back during the great depression. What if this was the truth. In To Kill a Mockingbird readers can see how prejudice affected people of color back then, and how it’s not so different from today. In the novel readers will find unfairness in court, hate crimes, and segregation. Today readers can still find these same issues, but in different forms.
When the Great Depression hit and the economy crashed in 1929, Louise’s father lost everything, including the ink manufacturing company. This meant that Christian was unemployed and out of work, and he had no idea what to do. His father-in-law went through the Depression until 1933, when he blew his brains out because it was all just too much for him. Without having a job, Christian had plenty of time to be with Louise but did not really use it. He and Louise had different interest because Christian never did anything but football and work so he never gained any interests or hobbies.
