Bugs Booklet Report Assignment Now that you have discovered the taxonomy of your microbe, and have learned the desired format for your bibliographic references, it is time to write the actual report. The report should be three to five pages long, including the abstract and references. The report should answer questions of historical content, natural history of the microbe, and importance: Historical Context Name the species of microbe. Who first found your microbe? Where? When? Place it in context—what is its present taxonomy? In the report, write your taxonomy as part of the narrative, not as a list. Be sure to complete the taxonomy as appropriate, with domain, kingdom, division or phylum, class, order, family, and genus as well as …show more content…

Can you grow your microbe in the lab? If so, how? How does your microbe reproduce? What is its life cycle, if any? What intermediate hosts are required, if any? Consider the microbial equivalent of the necessities of life: food, clothing, shelter (even sex). Importance Why did you choose your microbe? What do you tell your classmates? Why is your microbe worth the attention of a microbiologist? Be sure to answer both parts of the question in your report. In the abstract, however, only the importance to a microbiologist will be mentioned. You may answer the “I chose my microbe because” in the first person. The rest of the report will be written in the third person. Draft Abstract and References After you write your report, write a draft of the text of your abstract. Paste the draft abstract at the beginning of your report. On the same page, begin your report. On the last page of your report, start your references. Save paper: no new page for references. References should follow the same format that you have used for the first two assignments, the Format Bibliography and the Taxonomy. You must use at least one print reference. You may not do the whole report from online
