Building suspense in “The Most Dangerous Game” In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell is about a hunter named Rainsford who goes on an island called Ship-Trap Island. On that Island he finds a large mansion where he meets General Zaroff. General Zaroff is also a hunter who thinks animals are boring so he hunts humans. The General challenges Rainsford for a hunting battle and in the end Rainsford kills General Zaroff. The author uses methods of narrative point of view and description of the setting to build suspense in the story. The author, Richard Connell uses narrative point of view to build suspense in the story. When General Zaroff was eating dinner near the end of the story “Two slight annoyances kept him
