The short story “The Most Dangerous Game’’, Rainsford was justified in killing General Zaroff . Rainsford is a hunter who fell off a yacht at Ship Trap Island where he meets General Zaroff. General Zaroff is a hunter too. He stays on the island and hunts. Rainsford and General Zaroff are fighting to their death because General Zaroff wants to hunt Rainsford.
In the text read in class, “The Most Dangerous Game”, Rainsford displayed many instances where he persevered. Not only does General Zaroff respect Rainsford as a hunter, but his intentions are to now make this hunter his prey. The reader does not expect Rainsford to make it out alive but he now conquers the game General Zaroff has worked so hard on to master, hunting humans. Leading up to Rainsford killing General Zaroff, Rainsford showed his many different acquired hunting skills when fighting on the island. He made several different traps in attempt to kill Zaroff that ended in failure, but when Rainsford jumped into the ocean and swam to the house of General Zaroff, he showed signs of perseverance.
There are some stories that seem to drag on and on because of their extremely descriptive writing. There are others that fly by in an instant but leave the reader more confused than when he started. Then there are stories that use the perfect balance of description and suspense so that they enhance the story and each other. “The Most Dangerous Game” written by Richard Connell is an excellent example of this crucial yet delicate balance. There are many points in the story where masterfully expanded moments capture all the fine sensory details of a scene; nevertheless, these points also contain captivating suspense to keep the story interesting.
The Most Dangerous Game In the story, “The Most Dangerous Game”, written by Richard Connell there is a man named Sanger Rainsford. He is cast away off a yacht that he fell off. When he is cast away he gets on the island and falls into a deep sleep and wakes up in one day. When he wakes up he starts exploring the island.
Digging himself in France, Rainsford survives when “seconds delay means death” (13). Living through a life and death situation one must unleash his hidden ability. In Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game” Rainsford uses his knowledge and sense to persevere through the worst of times. Conquering fear and pain he survives. The author produces a theme of perseverance and survival between Sanger Rainsford and General Zaroff.

The most dangerous game is a short story about a hunter named Sanger Rainsford who is marooned on an island after accidentally falling off a yacht. After Rainsford falls, he frantically swims to the nearest island in search of food and shelter. However this deserted island is not an ordinary island. This is called Ship Trap Island.

This when Rainsford mate General Zaroff, General Zaroff is a man who got tired of hunting animals so he hunts humans. Rainsford and General Zaroff ended up in a kill or be killed situation.

Most people when they hear “The Most Dangerous Game” they think of bull riding or other dangerous games that don’t involve death. “The Most Dangerous Game” is a suspenseful cliff hanging story that follows the days of a castaway on the island of a crazed hunter. Rainsford is a big game hunter who falls off a boat near the island of General Zaroff, a big Cossack general who is looking for an alternative to hunting dangerous animals but with a twist. Throughout “The Dangerous Game” Rainsford and General Zaroff both show examples of IRony and exert arrogance.
