Bulletin Board Observation

This observation really helped to me to reflect on how important bulletin boards are. It is something I now believe all physical education teachers, should include, in the hallways, health rooms, hallways and even offices. This teacher even uses some with students in classes as part of an actual lesson that was not only used to inform the students but motivate them as well. By utilizing the bulletin board the teacher incorporated common core by providing everything from clear student instructions to task that students were expected to accomplish. It also included vocabulary content related to physical education such as health terms, names and pictures of muscle groups and movement words. Bulletin boards are also a great way for teachers to integrate various ideas, topics, and activities into their daily curriculum. Teachers can use bulletin boards to motivate students to do well in class. The motivation of the boards even helped increase the ELL learning students and create communication of essential information. Bulletin boards can display posters, pictures, rules, and cues. They are a great visual representation that students to refer back too. In this particular lesson the teacher really used the bulletin board to reinforce her instructional goals. She created a calendar on the board which was a great way to include common core and review mathematical concepts. She displayed charts and sight words that were key elements that related to the unit that added valuable visual support that helped display important information. As we also discussed in class using bulletin boards are a great way to differentiate the classroom environment itself. Bulletin boards help to provide not only differentiated strategies but can also provide individualized learning experiences for all
