The chapter on "Arguments" in The Little Gator Handbook with exercises by Bullock, Brody and Weinberg gives a breakdown of the primary keys for arguing a position and putting that argument to paper. The authors maintain that to have an acceptable argument, it should be indubitable what is trying to be conveyed, there should be some support for the position you are taking, it should have a noble aspect to enforce the fairness of your argument, and a fair rationalism supported by data which also takes into account the other position.
