Bullying is a skewed imbalance in physical power which is unwanted and usually very aggressive which is manifest in School children. This behavior if repeated over a period of time tends to become a psychological problem with children who are bullied and gives way to many physical and mental disorders . (Kaltiala-Heino, R et al. 2000) Bullying is said to be a kind of abuse which is meant to be malicious and hurtful. It can also be termed to be a kind of teasing behavior which is said to cause some sort of ingratitutious behavior which might cause mental or physical harm. It could be mental and physical too. Bullying generally starts with a mild form of assertive behavior of the strong over the weak or the rich over the poor. The weak who are bullied try to retaliate and this leads to physical abuse from the perpetrators of the bully act. ( Nansel, T. R et al 2001) the following chart shows the incidences of bullying in middle school l and high school children . it is to be seen that there are greater incidences of bullying in middle school where children do not know the effects of bullying and are rather immature to understand the effects of bullying . This bullying also transcends to the victim’s neighborhood where children indulge in rowdy behavior. According to The National Crime Prevention Council, “Although bullying was once considered a rite of passage, parents, educators and community leaders now see bullying as a devastating form of abuse that can have long-term effects on youthful victims, robbing them of self-esteem, isolating them from their peers, causing them to drop out of school and even prompting health problems and suicide.” In the U.S. each month 282,000 students report being attacked at school.
