September 9, 2013: Rebecca Sedwick from Lakeland, Florida took her life (usatoday.com). After years of falling victim to bullying and torment by a rally of fifteen girls, Rebecca jumped to her death off an abandoned cement factory tower. While the bullying derived from a dispute with a girl over a boy, countless months of terrorizing led Rebecca to run away, cut herself, transfer schools, and eventually, end her life (usatoday.com). Even as the verbal and emotional abuse Rebecca experienced took place in school, as well as on social media, the school district dismissed the issue and didn’t act sufficiently to stop these bullies and possibly save Rebecca’s life. Being bullied has changed me. I transferred schools after being tormented and picked on during middle school. It is definitely not true when psychologists say bullying lessens after middle school. Bullying exists everywhere from middle school to the work place after college. Even after I transferred schools, I was bullied at my new school. Going to school became dreadful because I was afraid I would be embarrassed in front of my class or made to feel worthless. School was a place I had always enjoyed; I loved learning new things, but into the first few months of my freshman year, I abominated it because of the girls in my class. I have tried to deal with bullies in my class for almost four years now, and it has only increased and gotten worse. The first time I have felt safe from bullies was two weeks ago, when I decided I couldn’t take any more of it. Luckily, I had gracious teachers who cared and supported me, and acted to stop the bullying. They addressed the problem to the superintendent and counselor immediately after recognizing the bullying
