The Burlington Coat Factory is a retailer that sells items from coats (obviously,) shoes, handbags & accessories, beauty & fragrance items, home decor, toys, and women/men/juniors/girls/boys/baby clothing and apparel. The selection for the items listed above varies depending on the store location, and the prices for said items differ as well. At the end of 2022, across the United States, there were 877 operating stores in 46 states and Puerto Rico. The Burlington Coat Factory is a Fortune 500 company, and last year, they generated $8.7 billion in total sales, according to Burlington Stores (2023). In Ohio, specifically, there are about 20 different store locations across the state, with the most locations in the three C’s (Columbus, Cleveland, …show more content…

Alongside its strengths, the brand also offers consumers famous name-brand items for significantly cheaper prices, with discounts ranging from 60-70% off. The shopping experience offers not only in-person deals, but also virtual purchases, making it easier for consumers to shop for themselves and their families, likewise. According to MBA Skool (2020,) Burlington Coat Factory provides opportunities in various ways; the brand focuses on providing cash and credit refunds to those dissatisfied with their acquired product/service, directing more input toward the mobile/online shopping experience (to suffice for the world’s growth in use of technology,) and a growing increase in store locations geographically. With cheaper prices than other stores, and more locations geographically, Burlington Coat Factory solidifies itself as a competitor in the fashion world and the economics environment. However, although the brand has its upsides, it also has its negative sides as well. Some weaknesses of the brand include its public perception; being a price-reduced retailer may come across to consumers as though the products they’re selling are lower quality (since the prices are discounted). With this, Burlington Coat Factory has also had some recent controversy due to false labeling of products (to make it seem as though products are more high-end than not,) which has put the reputation of the brand at stake. In the store itself, some consumers may consider Burlington Coat Factory less appealing due to its minimal infrastructure and decor, which could possibly drive them to other shopping locations in the area. Some growth opportunities of Burlington Coat Factory, in my opinion, include things such as continuing to expand
