The First Decision Reef, the main character in the novel, The First Stone, by Don Aker, makes a bad decision and ultimately has to deal with the consequences. To begin, Reef latches his anger onto a stone and deliberately throws it over an overpass into oncoming traffic. The stone causes a major accident between not one, but several cars and severely injures a teenage girl. Fortunately for Reef, the Judge sentences him to live at North Hills Group Home, and to volunteer at a rehabilitation centre. This punishment changes Reef’s life for the better.

Lorelle Henry testifies king was at the store the day of Mr. Nesbitt death, Bobo Evans testifies that King shot Mr. Nesbitt with a chrome, and lastly Osvaldo Cruz testifies that him and King planned and did this get over. On the other hand Dorothy Moore gives king an alibi.
This is ironic, since a huge topic in this short story is about the devil, and death. “They went up through the maze of parked and cruising cars to the bright lit, fly-infested restaurant, their faces pleased and expectant as if they were entering a sacred building that loomed up out of the night to give them what haven and blessing they yearned for. They listened to the music that made everything so good. The music was always in the background, like music at a church service” (Oates). These symbols contain several ideas.
In the short story "Button, Button" by Richard Matheson, in the middle of the story, Norma and Arthur are going to bed after arguing about the button machine when Norma thinks "…Fifty thousand dollars…" (69) At this point in the story, Norma knows the button machine will kill someone if she presses it, but she is still seriously considering it because of the money involved. Greed is when someone has an intense and selfish desire for something like wealth or power, and this fact defines what Norma feeling about the button machine. This evidence proves that greed makes people do bad things such as killing
There is a hero in almost every story. A hero doesn’t always necessarily involve physical strength, it can be defined many other ways. A hero is someone who is idealized for their noble qualities, courage and outstanding achievements. In Mary Shelley’s book, Frankenstein, the hero in the story is Victor Frankenstein. Victor sacrifices his family, his life, and other peoples lives for his pursuit of creating life, and attempting to cure diseases.
The first example of symbolism is the rooms in the abbey. Each room was a different color and line up from east to west. This is a symbol for the progression of life and death. The first room was blue, representing birth, then purple representing youth, green representing adolescence, orange representing adulthood, white symbolizing old age, violet symbolizing imminent death, and black and scarlet symbolizing death itself. This is also a metaphor as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west; it can also be seen as symbolism for the progression of a day.
