I believe knowledge comes at a price for many reasons. All knowledge comes at a price, but depending on what it is. Knowledge is the most powerful weapon and it has always been hard to come by. The main reason for gaining knowledge is experience. For example, many people gain experience of trying new physical activities with new pursuits. Knowledge does come at a price because nowadays everyone has to pay for an education, whether it is through tax or whether it is directed through a school. In the story John’s tribe is called “Hill People”. John wants to become a priest, but doesn’t know when is the right time. His father then talks to him about how to become a priest and all the adventures he shouldn’t go such as going east. John is forbidden to go to the Place of Gods and is forbidden to cross the river. In the story we can see that the previous civilization had populate what was clearly New York City. Which destroyed itself through war. But the author was writing this story before World War ll even began. He was scared that technology was going to advance very quick to the point that people would one day be able to destroy whole civilizations. John clearly sees his people as superior to the “Forest People.” At the end of the story John says “We must build again.” This shows that the same cycle of civilization and destruction could begin all over again. The society of this story takes place on the East coast in the future after the war. The are called Hill People. The men use bows and arrows to hunt while the women spin wool to make fabrics. The season I believe this story is being taken place is spring. Because in the story doesn’t talk nothing about snowing and the weather being cold. Although in the story John has been cold when he woke up, but that is the only part where he was cold. I believe this is spring because when John had to travel East which took him days he didn’t complain about the weather and he didn’t say the weather was hot or cold. So I believe the weather will be around 60-70 degrees. The time of the year this story is taking place is there was an apocalypse called the Great
