The author in “By the Waters of Babylon”, tells how he wants to find knowledge and how he will go and find the knowledge. The author would like to find the truth. The authors father is a priest and the author would also like to be a priest himself. He would like to follow in his father's footsteps. He wants to go into the dead place to find out knowledge and find the truth. The author goes into the Dead place with his father a few times. The Dead place is a place where only priest can go. The author would like to find knowledge so much he is willing to go into the Dead place and the forbidden places. He hungers for knowledge, just like we hunger for food and water. He feels a fire in his heart that fills him with the want for knowledge. The more he wants to find the knowledge, the more he feels a fire in him. The knowledge he wants to find is the truth. He has these dreams that show him what might happen and what he might see. He sees what the truth could be. His father warns him, that if the dream does not eat him up, he can be a priest. The farther he goes on his journey, the more he learns. On his journey, he feels the spirits all around him, behind his back, breathing on his neck. Never has he felt so alone. On his journey he found new things, and learned new things. He saw new things that nobody has seen before since he is in the banned place. He found, the ground did not burn him as he was told. He also found, the island is not covered in fog, the towers are not all burnt down. Some of the towers are still standing and not ruined.
