I am applying to a CFHI Global Health Education Program as part of my practicum experience. I am currently a pursuing my Master’s in Global Health at Northwestern University and will engage in four weeks of non-clinical work in a health delivery setting as part of my practicum course. A CFHI program will allow me to grow professionally and personally. This program will provide me with a practical fieldwork experience that will complement with I have learned through the different courses for my Master’s program. I am also applying to obtain a global health experience and have an ethical, professional, and personal development by learning, understanding and developing different skills such as leadership, teamwork, cultural competence, problem-solving skills, and service orientation.

I believe that by becoming immersed in a culture will help me better understand the complexities around the challenges of a healthcare system. I also want to gain exposure in working with vulnerable groups of society facing challenges in literacy and access to healthcare services, more specifically indigenous groups and women. Finally, I want to gain exposure, get some experience and learn me about primary care and preventative medicine. I am very interested in primary care, so having exposure to this will not only provide me with exposure to this but will help me determine if I want to pursue this in my future career.
