Provide a brief explanation describing your interest in a living/learning environment and the particular program you are interested in. Be sure to include specific attributes you will bring to the position.

Currently I am an associate in the CIVICUS Living and Learning Program. Through my time here at Maryland the program has truly instilled all five of its pillars within my ability to interact with those within and outside my program. All of the pillars of CIVICUS- Citizenship, Leadership, Community Service Learning, Community Building in a Diverse Society, Scholarship- helped me to define who I am and what kind of person I want to be here at the University. Before Admitted Students Day, I was never truly interested in being a part of a Living and Learning Program. I had personally never had a family member, or graduate from my high school live in a program where the individuals would take a majority of their classes together while still living in the same building. This unawareness and lack of knowledge of Living and Learning Programs was one of the major reasons why I was opposed to them. It was not until Admitted Students Day where I got to meet with individuals in the CIVICUS program that I knew that it was the program for me. I placed Prince Frederick dorm as my number 1 choice because I feel as though I can supply the residence on the floors that do not have Living and Learning Programs the same experiences as those individuals in Prince Frederick who are in one. Those individuals in the Living and Learning Programs, ACES (Advanced Cybersecurity Experience for Students) and DCC (Design: Cultures and Creativity), are lucky enough to have an extra close knit community through their program, but those individuals who live in Prince Frederick and don’t live in a Living and Learning Program must feel a
