Homelessness has been on a consistent uptrend over the past couple of years due to the continuous population growth, with the current population coming in at 8.1 billion people. This rise causes issues in many different places, more commonly in already densely populated areas such as cities and more specifically, Sacramento. Amidst the vibrant culture and economic powerhouse of California’s capital, a depressing reality exists of many individuals and families living in unfortunate circumstances who currently suffer to find secure, stable housing. Sacramento has seen a substantial increase in homelessness, and the sidewalks serve as a poignant reminder of the crisis at hand, with tents and camps lining streets as well as individuals seeking refuge in various public …show more content…

These shelters provide a place to stay, as well as a sanctuary to ease one's mind and get away from the stress that comes with living on the streets in everyday life. This is exactly what HOPE Shelters has done, which is a homeless program that excels in providing recuperative care and housing for those who are struggling. HOPE has several shelters that span all over California, and this is the kind of help that is needed to better the lives of individuals everywhere. The Sacramento County Department of Health Services also provides many different lifelines and references for struggling people, including 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic, and a Homeless Engagment and Response Team (HEART). The HEART program has helped over 200 individuals since January 2023 who found themselves struggling with homelessness, mental illness, or other sufferings. Basic outreach programs such as HEART and HOPE have been proven to have a massive impact on the Sacramento community, and hopefully many other programs like this are in the works of being
