I am writing to apply for the position of the California Mini Corps Tutor. I recently graduated from North Salinas High School in the Spring 2015. I am know a student in California State University Monterey Bay. I am working on accomplishing my dream of becoming a teacher by Majoring in liberal studies and minoring in Spanish. I come from a migrant background, were my family has been working in the fields for the past two generations. Both of my parents migrated from Guanajuato, Mexico to the United States at the age of 16. They both arrived to Salinas California since their was agriculture jobs. My father has worked in the fields harvesting cauliflower, lettuce, and strawberries. My experience as a migrant student could benefit me as an employee of California Mini Corps considering that the students could feel identify with my migrant background. In this job experience, I have learned how to develop routines, organize activities, and prepare meals. I was employed in this job for four years and retired because I decide to focus on my first year of college. I have not only had experience with children by working but also by participating as a volunteer in some of my community’s organizations. I have served as a volunteer in Henry F. Kammann Elementary School for five years. During these years I have had a closer experience with children who are enrolled in school. This experience has been different from my job experience since I have learned how to follow directions from the supervisor while helping the students with various activities. Many of the activities included homeworks, art, computers, and games. Another community service that has build up on my experience has been the North Salinas High School Migrant Program. Being a volunteer in the migrant program gave me a closer experience on working with parents and children from a migrant
