Camp War Eagle was my top choice for the Camp and Recreation interview and observation assignment. Camp War Eagle is a Christian, sports, adventure, and recreation summer camp that serves boys and girls of Northwest Arkansas from ages 7 to 17. In partnership with Jones Elementary School, camp war eagle also provides an after school program, S.O.A.R. Camp War Eagle’s mission statement and philosophy is to help kids have the time of their lives and gain a greater appreciation for God, themselves, and others. A large quantity of staff members is needed each summer in order for this camp to run as smooth as possible; in order for staff to be accepted as a counselor or a mentor, they must first pass an interview process and have a clear background. In order to have an effective supervision at the camp and after school program, counselors are instructed to read and understand the manual provided during orientation. During the camp session in the summer, counselors are not allowed to stay in the cabin by themselves with a camper, there has to be more than one camper present in the cabin, but it cannot be two counselors and one camper, it always has to be more campers than counselors. This action is required by their guidelines to avoid any sexual abuse report, but if for some reason the camper find himself/herself alone in a bathroom or cabin with the counselor, the counselor must write down an incident report, where he/she explains how it happened, and indicating the date and time of
