There are so many sectors in which one can work. If I have to select one area in which I prefer to work it is “Aquaculture”. The Aquaculture industry is one of the smallest agricultural employers in Canada, but it’s also the fastest growing. The rising global demand for fish protein is predicted to create a strong market for this export-reliant industry over the next10years.The main species grown by Canada’s ‘aquaculture’ industry are salmon, mussels, oysters, and trout. Steelhead, arctic char, Atlantic cod, sablefish, geo ducks, Atlantic halibut, quahogs, white sturgeon, tilapia, and scallops are also produced.

In cases where filter-feeding shellfish, such as oysters, are cultured in-situ, water quality in ponds and lakes can improve. Also, when agricultural farming operations are sustainably managed, they can help preserve and restore critical habitats, and improve soil health and water quality.
But when practiced without care, farming presents the greatest threat to species and ecosystems like soil erosion. In addition, overfishing also break down level of the sea and ecosystem.
5.Low Turnover ratio: ‘Aquaculture’ also has the lowest turnover rates of any agriculture industry, suggesting that when they hire workers, it tends to hire the right people. However, fishing is seasonal job it also has low turnover ratio. Thus making it difficult to provide constant hour and job security.

6.Physical work: Aquaculture work is not very hard. It is easy to manage as compared to agriculture where you have to spend a whole day in fields and farms. It provides various benefits for both the people in the industry and the environment at large. Moreover, fishing is also difficult where one went to the ocean and spent a whole day searching for fishes. It’s not only smelly, but is also dirty work.
