As the saying by Mary Ann Radmacher goes “I am not the same person, having seen the moon shine on the other side” shows emphasise on the importance of venturing out to the world for your soul. It helps you to open up your eyes to different perspectives in life and also to the myriad of unique cultures across the world. Participating in the 360 exchange program is one out of many platforms for me to do this. Besides that, making connections is also one of the benefits that could be reaped through this program. Particularly for my business degree, having strong and plentiful connections is crucial for the growth of my future career. Plus, as Canada consistently ranks amongst the top three for the highest standard of living guarantees a conducive and supportive environment for my studies. Similar to New Zealand, the people are also known for their warmth and acceptance of diversity which is essential for me not to feel alienated. Canada also has various universities that land spots in the best top 100 universities in the world and that includes the university of my choice, University of British Columbia (UBC). This proves the effectiveness of the education system in Canada in producing top notch graduates. Therefore, being able to experience Canada’s education system first hand allows me to have the set of knowledge that could be shared with my peers in Auckland. In addition to being a top 100 university, UBC is also currently the second best university in Canada for the major I enrolled in that is Economics according to Times Higher Education (THE) university rankings. An example of incredible founding by UBC graduates is the Mundell-Fleming effects proposed by the Robert Mundell which later won a Nobel Prize in economics in 1999.
