Canada has been through a lot of important events to make it the great known red and white flagged country it is today. Little do people know the history and the hard work it took to make it this way. The way of life that all Canadians appreciate and take advantage for was carved for Canadians by the bloodshed by their great ancestors that knew that one day, it will stand on guard for thee.The battle of Ypres, the achievements of women and the invasion of Normandy, are the most important events in Canadian history that showed their bravery and achievements to form the newly independent country.

It started when Prime Minister Borden wanted to remain in power, by appealing to the women of Canada who has a male in the war. This allowed the women to vote in a federal Election for the first time. A privilege usually given to men but was the first step to equality for women through the women's revolution. Also, there were the famous five who were a group of five women who thought that women should be considered persons, even though it is not stated in the BNA Act (1867). This was significant for Canada because after the women lost in supreme court, they went to the Privy Council where they were then declared persons. Being declared persons it allowed women to become members of the senate. This was crucial as to seeing that there is both a male and female side and not all views are seen by the eyes of men. And finally, women enter competitive sports in the Olympics. The women's competitive sports were gaining popularity, especially in hockey. The women's basketball team was very successful by winning 502 games out of 522 over a twenty history and winning four Olympic gold medals. Also in the Olympics, women Track and Field were also successful by winning in their first time ever. This was significant because it showed that women could do the same sports men can do. The battle of Ypres, which showed the bravery and knowledgeable strength of the Canadians, against the use of chemicals in warfare. It showed the allies and foe who we are to earn the respect and honor to take on any military objective. The achievements of women got the right to vote in the first world war along with changing how the senate would view bills to become laws with a female perspective. And finally, the invasion of Normandy which was done by through the battle of Dieppe where soldiers marched with dignity for Canada. Soon after, a full-scale attack took over Normandy allowing them to win the beach and causing a turning point in the war which the allies ultimately won, through the death of Hitler.
