Canada and China are very different countries in culture business or eating etiquette, so if both of them wants to do business with each other they should definitely learn as much as they can learn how each other’s hometown. It’s a very different set of cultural expectations and social patterns, only the time can make them learn how to fit in to the new environment. So, a good acculturation is needed here.

Canada is one of the individualism countries, Canadian culture values individual contribution it is well-respected. Often you will work on teams but Canadians will expect you to volunteer information and help the business as much as possible to get success. Individual opinion will be respected as well. In Canada people are informality at workplace or in business meetings. A casual attitude is not a lack of respect.

In China privacy is also very important. Chinese don’t like to discuss about anything in front of other people who don’t belong to the group of meeting. They concerned about other people who might hear them get those ideas for their use or in their business. so, Chinese may found uncomfortable to discuss at that place.

Canadian are affective. They love to share feelings openly, they even may huge touch your shoulders or handshake to express their feelings. You can tell if they like the ideas of business just by looking their facial expressions. Moreover, they will just say it out what actually they are thinking. But it doesn’t mean to disrespect Canadians, it’s just that Chinese people generally are fairly formal.
