The well-being of families is the cornerstone on which society rests; yet evidence is showing that families are facing significant challenges beyond their control that adversely impact their ability to perform their essential role. Canadian neighborhood has displayed some of the families that really portrayed determinants of Health. The most amazing family I came across was the Riley J. Household. Jessica who lives with her husband Casey, and her two children Ryan and Carrie. Jessica is overwhelmed trying to look after her children and at the same time go to work and study at school. Her son Ryan experiences colic and cries constantly every night. During the past couple of weeks, Jessica made several visits to the emergency department and tried breastfeed her baby, but it did not help and therefore, she switched to formula. Jessica attends 24-week prenatal class. She visits every day, the nurse midwife, Carol Ramsey. She likes her because she makes her feel comfortable. She tells the nurse that she tried stop smoking. She no longer drinks alcohol, but pretends to make Casey happy. Jessica had a day off from work and she was excited to stay home with Casey and her two children. After a long night shift, Casey lies down for an afternoon nap, and then Jessica receives a phone call from her mother. While talking on the Phone Carrie begins to cry. Casey hangs the phone and hits her on the left side of her face, and screams at her to keep the baby quiet. Jessica runs to protect Carrie.
