Cape Fear Volunteer Center, a verified 501c3 organization, is a multifunctional organization that serves the citizens of New Hanover County in a multitude of direct and indirect capacities. As a leading organization in volunteer placements in New Hanover County, Cape Fear Volunteer Center has dedicated the last 11 years to providing nonprofits, schools, businesses and grassroots organizations with volunteers to enhance their overall capacity and productivity. Describing herself as a self-starting, creative leader Annie believes whole-heartedly in the mission, vision and values of the organization and works tirelessly to conduct business the best way that she knows how. Caroline and I were both a little confused as to exactly what the CFVC does, and we had a feeling that Annie may have slightly lost her way as well. It was important to have the discussion about the purpose of the CFVC to make Annie really think through it, to inform us, and to make sure that everyone was on the same page. Annie informed us that her original idea for the CFVC was for it to be a networking organization that would bring people together to match with volunteer organizations. Annie stressed that the organization had always utilized direct and indirect services and that she intended for it to remain that way. After Annie explained how the CFVC began, it’s goals, and its purpose, we then moved on to evaluating the existing mission statement to decide if it fit what Annie explained the CFVC to be.
