The Death penalty also known as the Capital Punishment comes from the slogan “eye for eye.” Capital punishment has been around since at least the 16th Century. During the earlier centuries, the death penalty was used as a punishment for all crimes. Death sentences was carried out by crucifixion, drowning, beat to death, burned alive, and impalement. The Death penalty has changed over the course of years. Britain influenced America to use the death penalty. When the European settlers came to the New World, so did the practice of Capital Punishment. During this time, you could be sentenced for the littlest crimes. Such as stealing grapes, killing chickens, and trading with the Indians.(The U.S and the Death Penalty- FindLaw). The Death Penalty had been around for many decades. All states with the death penalty hold that first-degree murder is a crime punishable by death. Some states consider other crimes also punishable by execution:Treason, train wrecking, perjury causing execution, capital drug trafficking, capital sexual battery, kidnapping with bodily injury or ransom when the victim dies, hijacking an aircraft, aggravated rape. …show more content…

One family may think that the death penalty is right, but in all actuality both families will suffer from losing a family member. The death penalty should be abolished from all states for many reasons. It’s cruel and unusual. It doesn’t give neither family a closure. It’s taking money away from the state. Innocent people are sometimes convicted of something they didn’t do. Doesn’t offer people a second chance to turn their life around. How can we determine one man's faith.
