I never gave capitalism and socialism a second thought, I really had no clue what either of them were. Until I was given the opportunity to do some research on socialism and capitalism. I came up with some interesting facts and information I never knew. Upon learning the difference between capitalism and socialism, I learned that the United States is a mix of capitalism and socialism. But how much different are capitalism and socialism really are?
Capitalism, what really is capitalism about and what do they believe in? Well, upon researching I found that is made up of three essential features private ownership, market competition and the pursuit of profit. (11th ed., p. 350) A private ownership means that the people will buy land and use their money to buy equipment for their business. Market competition means that the business itself will be in charge of pricing marketing. Vs socialism that thinks there is room for the people to have a say in pricing and marketing. Socialism has three major components such as public ownership, central planning and distribution of goods. (11th ed., p. 351) What exactly do these components mean well public ownership gives the public a chance to open their own business to more to the public vs capitalism that want business to be about big corporations. Central planning is where the economy plans out their economic goals and they decide who gets what. Distribution of goods speaks for its self they decide where their goods are going where they are coming from and who gets them.
