Why oh why did I agree to this, I thought. Bang, a bullet hit a rock I was sitting behind. Wait! You dont know whats going on, let's go back a few months or so into late April, early May. I’m one of the volunteers from Silver City, there has been many indian attacks in the few months. So I'm helping some people out. Those people, well they’re the army. In the spring of 1878, there were murders and injuries, and we assumed they came from indians attacking settlers. So far I have heard from some untrustworthy neighbors that we are at war because the indians hate hate white men. But Col. Robbins said otherwise. The mayor and townspeople got scared that they were going to be attacked because they heard that the indians were moving north(troward Silver City) . So they sent out us, the “volunteers” but I think I was more forced by my parents. They sent out 26 “volunteers” (all men) not including me. But the worst thing about having to go was the captain we were under, his name was Captain Harper, I hate him. But there were other “high class” military leaders like W. C. Tatro, G. M. But I know for sure that I’m in central Idaho. The bad thing is I’m still behind the same rock and their closing in on us. I sprint to were one of my friend’s is taking cover. I look at him, he looks at me, we stared at each other for a while. Until he shouted, “If they can’t do it then I will,” at first I didn’t know what he meant until he ran out into the gun fire. I freaked and ran after him. A few seconds later reality hit, I was in the middle of gun fire being shot at. I didn’t know what to do so I kept charging. The rest of the army and volunteers followed. Oh boy I thought everyone's going to die, but that's not what happened. The closer we came the farther they ran, I knew god was on our side at this point.
